We design and develop linear scanning systems suitable for the acquisition and analysis of surfaces.Linear scanning differs from acquisition with matrix cameras in that a single frame consists of a single "line".
Linear acquisition is suitable for acquiring non-singularized objects that move at constant speed on a conveyor belt or roller conveyor. A linear acquisition system is particularly suitable for the analysis of the production of objects of important lengths in which a very detailed resolution is required. This is because unlike classic (matrix) cameras, the resulting image is the composition of many consecutive shots which therefore allow us to obtain much larger images that can contain the entire product. The advantage over, as already mentioned, of having larger photos is the superior quality, and the fact that it does not suffer optical distortions along the size of the object.
If the resolution in width depends on the size of the sensor and the optics used, the height depends on the speed of movement of the object and the speed of acquisition of the linear camera. We use cameras that can reach up to 80kHz this implies that if the object's progress was 0.8 m / sec we would get a resolution of 0.01 mm / px!
